We have had limited response to the suggestion for a virtual whole class photo. If you would like your child to be included please upload your photos to the form below by Wednesday at the latest.

Original Post

We would usually have year group photos during term 4 and we would love to recreate this.
Our plan is to create 2 photo collages for each year group:

  • 1 where pupils are wearing school uniform and smiling (as they would for a normal school photo)
  • 1 where pupils are wearing whatever they want (casual clothes or a costume) and holding a sign with a message to their class.

We thought this would be a lovely memento for everyone to have as well as keeping our classes as connected as possible during this difficult time.

If you would like your child to be included in their class collage then please upload your…

Weekly Learning

I hope everyone enjoyed Wellbeing week and had a restful weekend. We are at the beginning of our seventh week of the term and I wanted to share our weekly learning. I have scheduled assignments to be released at 5pm the day before the task has been timetabled. Some assignments have been released to cover several days. The attached timetable outlines the tasks that have been assigned however please do what you can throughout the week at a time that suits your family best. We understand that it is not always possible for you to complete every task that is assigned.

Thank you for your continued support.

Wellbeing Week

Please read through the attached newsletter for more information about Wellbeing week. Wellbeing Week is a really positive opportunity for everyone to refresh, re-energise and fire up the feel good endorphins.

The only real difference is that the suggested activities are all about good health and wellbeing; taking time to ‘step away’ from the screen and engage in more creative, relaxing, feel good pastimes. Registration and group Google Meets will continue as normal. The children will not need to ‘hand in’ any work as such but can share any learning during the video call, if they wish.

Next Week – Wellbeing Week

You may well have picked up from the main school blog that next week is going to have a slightly different slant. There will be a whole school focus on Wellbeing in order to ‘re-set, re-energise and re-focus our learning for the next few weeks, and give an opportunity to spend learning time away from a screen, if that’s what you choose to do.’

We are using NHS Five Ways to Wellbeing headings as a guide through the week.

There will be a daily whole school activity, which will be posted both on the school blog and in the classroom, and a menu of 12 creativity tasks which the children can pick and choose from over the course of the week.

The children will register as normal, and the group Google Meets will still take place.

I will post additional information here over the next couple of days.

Weekly Learning

I hope everyone has had another enjoyable weekend. We are at the beginning of our fifth week of the term and I wanted to share our weekly learning. I have scheduled assignments to be released at 5pm the day before the task has been timetabled. Several assignments have been released that contain four day tasks. The attached timetable outlines the tasks that have been assigned however please do what you can throughout the week at a time that suits your family best. We understand that it is not always possible for you to complete every task that is assigned.

It was lovely to catch up with the children on the video calls on Thursday. I think the small groups worked much better and gave each child the opportunity to share with the group. I have assigned new groups and times for this week and they have been released this evening.

Thank you for your continued support.

Week Four

I hope everyone has had an enjoyable weekend. We are at the beginning of our fourth week of the term and I wanted to share our weekly learning. This week some assignments will be scheduled to cover several days and other assignments will be scheduled daily. Everything is outlined in the attached timetable. This week some of the Literacy tasks are combined with the Health and Wellbeing tasks. Please do what you can throughout the week and we understand that it is not always possible for you to complete every task that is assigned.

It was really lovely to see everyone on the video call on Thursday. It was fun having us all together but I am sure everyone will agree that smaller groups would work much better! I will organise the children in groups of six/seven and run 4 groups on Thursday. Each group call will last approximately 10 minutes. I will issue an assignment this week that will have a time for your group call. Once again all you will have to do is click on the link on classroom at your given time. I plan to have a video call every Thursday and I will mix the groups each week.

Some of the feedback from Ms MacDonald’s questionnaire indicated that parents would like assignments to be scheduled the day before. I will now schedule assignments to be issued at 5pm the day before the learning task is to be completed. I will still schedule my daily timetable for the children to be released at 9am as I want the leaning in the google classroom to reassemble a school day as much as possible.

Thank you for your continued support.

Video Call

I just wanted to let you know that on Thursday between 12 pm – 12.30 pm I am hoping to have a video call for everyone in the class. I will post a link in the google classroom stream and all you have to do is click on the link to join the video call. Fingers crossed the technology works!

Have a lovely evening

Week Three

I hope everyone has had another enjoyable weekend. We are at the beginning of our third week of the term and I wanted to share our weekly learning overview. This week some assignments will be scheduled to cover several days and other assignments will be scheduled daily but everything is outlined in the attached timetable.

I am hoping to set up classroom video call using google meet this week. I will post a blog post and classroom message to let you know in advance what day and time the video will take place. A link will be posted in the google classroom and all you have to do is click on the link to join the video call. I am very new to this so there may be a few technical problems but I am hoping it will work! The purpose of the video call is just to say hello! I think it would be lovely for the children to see each other and perhaps share something they have enjoyed learning this week. The video call is optional and I understand some children may not want to take part but it would be lovely to ‘gather’ as a class again.

Thank you to those who have filled in the feedback form for Ms MacDonald. Please click on the attached link if you still have to complete the form.

Learning Overview

Good Afternoon

I wanted to thank everyone for the huge effort in home learning over the past few weeks.

I have scheduled mathematics work for Thursday and Friday in one PowerPoint to be released tomorrow morning. It is information to read, some games to play and some tasks to complete but please feel free to complete what you can.

The learning overview will be attached to this post and it focuses on Literacy, Numeracy and Health-Wellbeing. We have been advised that no should be no ‘new’ learning as such, and so I am providing materials which I think your child should be able to work on reasonably independently.

I also wanted to mention that we noticed that someone had been editing our class register inappropriately today. I posted the comment below in our google classroom. I am sure it will not happen again but we would appreciate if you could speak to your child about appropriate use of school files.

Unfortunately, I have had to come into the Gclassroom to share some really disappointing news with you. I have just received an email from Ms Wainwright and she has told me that someone has been removing names from the register and typing very inappropriate words into the boxes. This is unacceptable and it has caused Ms Wainwright a lot of extra work as some of the ‘y’s’ were also deleted. The register is extremely important and is a record of attendance. I trust that this will never happen again as we all understand how important it is to responsible and respectful in our Gclassroom.

Once again thank you for all your support.
